Anonymous solo Bitcoin mining
Solo miners have solved 5 blocks so far in 2022 on solo.ckpool.org. Are you next?
Another anonymous Bitcoin miner has solved a solo block with a 60TH ASIC miner on solo.ckpool.org.
This is like winning the lottery.
A miner with 60TH has a less than 1 in 20,000 chance of solving a block per day of mining solo at the current Bitcoin network difficulty.
This is a normally a rare occurrence but solo miners on solo.ckpool.org have solved 5 blocks(31.25 Bitcoin) so far in 2022.
What is solo.ckpool.org?
Despite it’s name, this is not really a pool rather, it’s a service that allows any Bitcoin miners to mine solo directly connected to a Bitcoin core node that has a reliable and fast connection to the internet and other peers.
Created by Con Kolivas the creator of cgminer, this is a non-profit bitcoin mining service with a simple 2% fee where individual miners get 98% of the block reward when they generate a block. The other pool participants get 0%.
This is different that a typical mining pool where all hash rate contributors get a piece of the block reward.
Solo mining vs Pool mining
Who is this for and why use it?
Good for miners that care about privacy and want to mine Bitcoin anonymously
Good for large mining farms that don’t want to be part of a 3rd party pool
Good for miners struggling to recoup costs while taking extra risk for greater rewards. 1 block = 6.25 Bitcoin
Good for a backup for miners who don't have a solo setup or wish to avoid the overheads of running a full node that requires both large amount of storage and consistent bandwidth for optimal performance.
Lottery focused miners with old/inefficient machines that will likely never earn any rewards through regular mining that wish to leave it mining just in case. “Fingers Crossed”
